Grace Cheney, MD

Dr. Grace Cheney graduated from Davidson College as a Phi Beta Kappa member with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and minor in Chemistry. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Cheney completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency at the University of South Florida where she served as Chief Resident. She pursued additional Child and Adolescent Psychiatry subspecialty fellowship training at the University of Colorado where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Cheney completed subspecialty fellowship training in Forensic Psychiatry at Stanford School of Medicine.

Dr. Cheney has presented at national conferences such as the American Psychiatric Association and published in peer-reviewed journals. She is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry, with additional qualifications in child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Cheney has broad clinical experience providing care in adult and child outpatient and inpatient psychiatric settings, partial hospitalization programs, and psychiatric emergency rooms. She has been qualified as an expert in the field of psychiatry in adult and juvenile court in the state of California. Her forensic areas of interest include civil competencies, malpractice, psychiatric injury, neurodevelopment, and diagnostic evaluations in school consultation.

Dr. Cheney is a member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL), American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), American Professional Society of ADHD and Related Disorders (APSARD), and the American Psychiatric Association (APA). She currently serves on AAPL’s Child and Adolescent Forensic Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry committees. She has also been involved in the legislative advocacy efforts of regional organized medicine societies such as the Colorado Psychiatric Society, Colorado Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Society, California State Association of Psychiatrists and Northern California Psychiatric Society.
