Vivek Datta M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Datta received his BSc in Psychology the University of London, his Medical Degree from Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ School of Medicine, London, and his Master of Public Health from Harvard University where he was a Frank Knox Memorial Fellow. He completed his Psychiatry Residency at the University of Washington, Seattle, where he was Chief Resident for Education and Director of the Neuropsychiatry Consultation Service. He completed his Fellowship in Psychiatry and the Law at the University of California, San Francisco. He is board certified in Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco. He specializes in the evaluation and management of functional neurological disorders, somatization, factitious disorders, traumatic brain injury, dementia, dissociative disorders and trauma-related disorders.

Dr. Datta is Co-Chair of the Forensic Neuropsychiatry Committee of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, Associate Editor of the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Mental Health, and serves on the Neurology/Neuroscience Test Development Committee for the United States Medical Licensing Exam, the examinations all physicians must take to practice medicine in the United States.

He has served as a forensic psychiatric expert in over 75 cases and has been qualified as an expert in psychiatry in the courts in California.
