Thomas P. Swales, PhD, ABPP

Forensic Neuropsychologist Thomas Swales, PhD, specializes in the evaluation and treatment of psychiatric and neurocognitive disorders across the human lifespan. He has served as an expert in hundreds of civil cases, involving personal injury, traumatic brain injury, PTSD, physical and sexual abuse, birth injury, malpractice, testamentary capacity, psychological autopsy, fitness for duty, and disability. He has also served as an expert in hundreds of criminal cases, including competence to stand trial, mental state at the time of the offense, civil commitment, violence risk assessment, and death penalty mitigation. Dr. Swales is board-certified in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology, and a fellow of the National Academy of Neuropsychology. He is Past-President of the Ohio Psychological Association, and currently the President of the Foundation for Psychology in Ohio, and a consultant to the NFL Concussion Settlement.
