Grace Cheney, MD
Dr. Grace Cheney graduated from Davidson College as a Phi Beta Kappa member with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and minor in Chemistry. She received her M.D from the University of Texas at San Antonio and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Cheney completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency at the University of South Florida where she served as Chief Resident. She pursued additional Child and Adolescent Psychiatry subspecialty fellowship training at the University of Colorado where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Cheney completed subspecialty fellowship training in Forensic Psychiatry at Stanford School of Medicine.
Dr. Cheney is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department at Stanford University School of Medicine, and a Clinical Faculty member of Stanford’s Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship. She is the lead clinician for the Stanford Adult ADHD Assessment Clinic and operates a private practice specializing in the treatment of both adults and children. With an academic focus on ADHD across the lifespan, Dr. Cheney has extensive experience in diagnosing and managing ADHD and learning disabilities.
Dr. Cheney is triple Board-Certified in Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Forensic Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She has presented at national conferences such as the American Psychiatric Association and published in peer-reviewed journals. She has been qualified as an expert in the field of psychiatry in adult and juvenile court in the state of California. Her forensic areas of interest include juvenile and adult civil competencies, neurotypical and neurodivergent development, and diagnostic evaluations in school consultation.
Dr. Cheney is a member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL), American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), American Professional Society of ADHD and Related Disorders (APSARD), and the American Psychiatric Association (APA). She currently serves on AAPL’s Child and Adolescent Forensic Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry committees.
